Landmates

Stella the starling was getting down
Chewing bugs on her favorite lawn when a man came wanderin round
That man, wondered to himself, what to call this wildlife on his lawn
Landmates, we share the same space
Baby Landmates, lunchbreak is on me
Robins on the downspout feeding little chickadees Singing in the tulip tree
Rabbits roaming thru the rose bush bed
A dog chasing squirrels hoping to be fed
We're all in this thing together
Enjoying the warming weather
Landmates, we share the same space
Baby Landmates, lunchbreak is on me

Off the Grid
04:26
|
|||
Gonna take a break for a while
Kick the shoes off in good style
Not gonna get paid today
Get out the Nintendo and play
No way am I going to work
So tired of dealing with those jerks
Instead I'll hole up in the cave
Forget facts, regroup, relax
And I'll be coming back, after a while
After I've compiled, my dreams
And I'm cooking up those dreams right now
Between naps I'm working on the Tao, the way
Get Laid today, and then walk away
And I don't need you coming around
Don't need you knockin my damn door down
I just need to be left on my own
Take this time alone and I'll go!
Off the Grid, goodbye Sid
After a while, crocodile
Off the Grid, not where I wanna stay
But today I'll say goodbye
Off the Grid, goodbye Sid
See ya later alligator
Off the Grid's not where I wanna stay
But today I'll say goodbye
Goodbye
Off the Grid, goodbye Sid
See ya later alligator
Off the Grid's not where I wanna stay
But today I'll say goodbye
Off the Grid, goodbye Sid
So long King Kong, see you soon baboon
C'mon let's sing this tune it goes
Goodbye
Goodbye

Imagi (Po-Tee-Weet)
03:56
|
|||
What did we see when the walls came down?
The tree & and over the hill on your side of town
Those railroad tracks
They are long and wide, this sadly sprawling
Great Divide, Please call my name
Like Bastian in the storm & in the rain
So we remade Fantasia & birthed the Imagi
They danced and they sang, and confused you and I
What could we say?
So we just kept quiet, and let our children grow
We felt their passions and they really let it show
How could we speak up now? Holy cow, they’re on their own
So we moved on, time stood still for us a bit
But those Imagi-kids, just wouldn’t quit
They told tales, of why the skies are silent
How could we tell them this time in a song or a rhyme?
In a prophet, a poet, a Mother Confessor? No
We tried it all
But time stood still only for us Gods
And when we looked down, you were dropping A-bombs
On each other. In the pouring rain
And the rain was our tears for we knew that too many
Years had gone by, my darling do you think that
We can make this right? Mm-mmmm
Can we make this right? Mm-mmm
What did we see when the walls came down?
The hills and the tree, on your side of town,
A bird says “Po-tee-weet”
We are unstuck in time, this time round we’ll be the change
We will rearrange the lands, and build a bigger stage
They’ll be space for you, And time for Me Too
So now we stand apart, but united
Though forces may try, they won’t divide it, again
So now we stand apart, but united
Though forces may try, they won’t divide us, again
And the sun shines joy on our land of Imagi
And our children are hopeful
That you and I will go quietly. Mm-mmmm
Will go quietly
Into that good night

Another Way
03:54
|
|||
The way in the moonlight
We walk with our brothers
And our sisters
We share all things
But there are others
A world away now
They only know how
To take not share
So they lay claim now
And Righteousness casts down
Destroying that, which they seek
We ride and sing throughout
There must be another way
To bring a peace to
All this Earth
The veil it shrouds
All of me all of
We act out
This played out play alive now
Through the sea
Of clouds we rise above to know that
Love, and love alone is all is love
It shapes itself slowly
And quickly accepts doubt
Preferring its place of mystery
But we are rising
And riding throughout this night
That the new day will bring new light

Peering deeper - past these catchy tunes
That were over far too soon
Through Fractal sets into abstract, alternate reality
Consciousness expands to include the Imagi-nation. Call it an annex -
Like the Lonestar State, or the Louisiana Purchase, this new
territory is only for the strong of will.
Travelling. . . past impossibly long tails, Canvas sewn, set sail,
on an ocean created in an instant.
“But why waste your time out here in Imagi?”
says the egotistical, narrow mind.
“Come back to the east,”
demand the so-called keepers of the peace.
“We fear what we don’t understand.”
That ocean, created in the mind of a man,
twists into a freshwater lake.
Imagi will mold as is required after all.
Dig ditches, irrigate fields,
put out the fires in the corners of our minds,
those little spots where fear still lurks.
See this desolate landscape for it’s potential, not it’s tribulation.
Out in Imagi, you know what you face -- It’s you.
Look that mirror in the eye, own up to your own lies,
and Imagi will become your Neverland.
One complete with a merry
Lost Boys Band, and a pack of Gypsy Dancers too.
The women twirl & spin, their dresses swirling up and down.
The sun sets and rises as they spin.
Like little atoms in a Universe,
or the smallest cog in a Grandfather Clock,
these dancers are just what they are.
Filling their purpose in this foreign annex soon to be called our home.
I wonder how long it will take to convince
Uncle Sam to run me out some Edison,
and a telephone?
Inevitably, the mass moves much slower.
We sailed on across the whole ocean, fueled only by our own belief.
A land, it was surely out there.
Filled with exiled artists, & rich-man thieves
Robin Hood left a map behind in Prince John’s oversized pajamas.
Robert Johnson sang us a tune of the place before the Devil finally caught up.
Hemingway whispered of it as he held the gun to his head,
And now we strap down ropes, gally to sails, and hope we find an open bed.
When we arrive, it will be such a time,
like Huxley’s Exile Isle
The world at large is so held down,
but out here great minds bound
Off one another like far-off foreign acrobats.
Standing on our proverbial tippy toes, we peer out of the Bird’s Nest
Hoping to catch a glimpse of land.
Or at least a dove with a branch in her hand
O how great to go toe to toe with Robbins. See eye to eye with Vonnegut.
Challenge them even.
“Slow down and make some sense, I didn’t travel the ends of the ocean
to let you run away again.
“Stand and speak my friends!
Let’s sing away the hours until the next lost ship arrives”
The new arrivals will call out
“There be Dermy and Ligyro - poets turned pirates! We followed your
Plankton trail”
“We set sail on a hope, and your words helped us cope
the many storms”
We stand equal on the shoreline and the measuring stick is a
blazing
beacon
of
Vertical
Truth
Come join us on this far off shore. This Imagi Nation.
You only arrive as you jump out alone
In the dark.
